The Development of a Method for Determining the Toxic Chemicals, Methyl tert-Butyl Ether

Absrtact
This research describes the development of a method for determining the presence of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), in liquid gasoline and soil samples. One method was developed to analyze MTBE in gasoline by chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC/MS) with direct aqueous injection. The other method was developed to analyze MTBE in soil by GC/MS with equilibrium headspace system. The estimated limit of detection for liquid gasoline samples is 0.22ppm, and 1.25 ng MTBE/g for soil samples. And the method technique was transferred to National Institute of Environmental Analysis.
